SUBSECTOR OVERVIEW Taxi subsector represents a subsector associated for the purposes of transporting passengers by road for a stipulated fare in vehicles other than buses. It includes: ✇ Minibus taxis ✇ Metered taxis ✇ Scholar transport ✇ Shuttle services ✇ Chauffeur drivers OCCUPATIONS IN THE TAXI SUBSECTOR
1. OPERATIONS
CHAUFFER - Occupational code: 732201
✇ Picking up passengers at prearranged locations and driving them to their destinations
✇ Assisting passengers with entering and exiting vehicles and helping them with any luggage
ROUTE PATROLLERS
✇ Regulate minibus taxis operations on the road
✇ Ensure that only the licenced minibus taxis operate on that route
✇ Handle disputes on route
✇ Regulate illegal lift clubs
RANK MANAGER
✇ Responsible for the smooth running of taxi ranks and they make sure that there are no illegal operators
✇ Control space usage by minibus taxis for specific routes
✇ Resolves disputes
AUTO ELECTRICIAN
✇ Trouble shooting of electrical/electronic circuits.
✇ Repairing general electrical components (lighting, starters, alternators, electric windows etc).
